Overview

Dupuy's Flute Concerto and Tchaikovsky's aria from "Eugene Onegin" form the romantic centerpiece of the program, framed by classical classics by Mozart and Beethoven: a brilliant debut in the Bern Master Cycle!

Well-known to Bernese audiences – not least as the director of the Bern Bach Choir – Lena-Lisa Wüstendorfer is "one of the most dynamic talents on the Swiss classical music scene" (Culture Tip). With "her infectious passion," she not only shines as artistic director of Andermatt Music, but also impresses as a conductor. With the Swiss Orchestra, which she founded, she welcomes arguably the world's most famous flautist, Emmanuel Pahud, who continues to serve as principal flautist of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Venue Info

Casino Bern - Bern
Location   Herrengasse 25 / Casinoplatz 1

One center for community, one point of contact, one concept: for the first time in the Casino’s history, the Burgergemeinde of Bern combine culture, culinary arts and events – and deliver “everything under one roof”. As the home of the Bern Symphony Orchestra and host to a variety of other concert events, the Casino Bern offers culture at its best.

Let yourself be moved, inspired and tempted in the newly renovated cultural venue – conveniently located in the center of Bern’s beautiful old town.

History meets modernity! The Burgergemeinde Bern and Director Ivo Adam have created the perfect place to come together – for the city, the region and beyond.

Since its opening in 1909, the Casino has been the cultural and social meeting place in the heart of Bern – and will remain so in the future. For over one hundred years it has radiated a unique atmosphere and grandeur; and the list of illustrious guests that has included Louis Armstrong, Grace Kelly and Herbert von Karajan will continue to grow. For the first time the casino owner, the Burgergemeinde, has assumed management of the culinary offerings, under the direction of Ivo Adam. Another premiere: the Casino Bern is proud to be organizing its own in-house cultural events.

The Burgergemeinde raised around 78 million francs to restore the late baroque classicist building which was reopened in September 2019. Following the motto “Back to the Future”, the renovation took care to follow the original designs from 1909 as closely as possible.
