About
British - Indian Tenor Caspar Singh is currently a member of the Opernstudio der Bayerischen Staatsoper in Munich. He Recently received a first class degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied under Adrian Thompson and Susan Waters.
Caspar’s 2018/19 season consists of performances of Il Trovatore, Eugene Onegin, Les Vêpres sicilliennes, Fidelio alongside Jonas Kaufmann, Iolanta, Alceste and La Traviata.
Opera performances include Italian Tenor in Strauss’ Capriccio (Garsington Opera 2018) Amphinomus in Montiverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (Cover, Royal Opera, 2018), Ferrando in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte (GSMD student Opera Tour, 2018), L'Aumônier in Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites (Cover, GSMD Opera Course, 2018), Man in 'Occo's Eternal Act' (Daniel Saleeb and Oge Nwosu, V and A, 2018), Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Verdi’s Falstaff (Garsington Opera, Chorus, 2018), Tamino in Mozart's The Magic Flute (GSMD Introduction to opera, 2017), The Good Robber in The Vanishing Bridegroom by Judith Weir (British Youth Opera, Summer 2017), Beethoven’s Fidelio (Longborough Festival Opera, Chorus, 2017), Young Man in Martinů's Ariane (cover, GSMD Opera Course, 2016), Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta (GSMD Opera Course, Chorus, 2016), and the UK premier of Jonathan Dove’s opera The Monster and the Maze (Barbican concert hall, 2015, Chorus) conducted by Sir Simon Rattle with the London Symphony Orchestra.
On the concert platform performances include Handel’s Messiah at the Welwyn festival and with Ramsey choral society, Bruckner’s Te Deum (LSO Singing day, LSO St Luke's, 2017), Britten's St Nicolas with Northwood choral society, Haydn’s Nelson Mass with Hertford choral society, Orff’s Carmina Burana with Ealing Symphony orchestra, Stainer’s Crucifixion at All Saints' Church Chalfont St Peter, Mozart's Requiem with the City of London School, Dvorak’s Mass in D with Genesis chorale, Bach’s Easter Oratorio with the Guildhall School Consort.
In recital he has performed Britten’s Winter Words (Milton Court Concert Hall, GSMD, 2017), and contemporary composer, Thomas Bove’s new work, In the Great dawn from the poem ‘Second Best’ (1908) by Rupert Brooke.
Caspar has also had the opportunity to sing in masterclasses with Helmut Deutsch, Brigitte Fassbaender, Graham Johnson and Margreet Honig.
