With performances of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique on period instruments, Constantinos Carydis concluded the past season with the Dresdener Festspielorchester, and made his début with the Berliner Philharmoniker with concerts in Berlin and Switzerland.
The 2019/20 season begins with his return to the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen for performances at the Bremen Music Festival and the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall in London. This collaboration continues in the summer of 2020 with concerts at various festivals including the Internationales Musikfestival Kissinger Sommer. In addition, Carydis will appear with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Wiener Symphoniker, Filarmonica della Scala, SWR Symphonieorchester, Museumsorchester Frankfurt and the Boston Sympony Orchestra.
Constantinos Carydis has previously worked with orchestras such as the Wiener Philharmoniker, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Münchner Philharmoniker, Bamberger Symphoniker, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
As an opera conductor, Constantinos Carydis has a close working relationship with the Bayerische Staatsoper and Oper Frankfurt, as well as at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Wiener Staatsoper, Staatsoper Berlin, de Nederlandse Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, Opéra de Lyon and at festivals such as the Salzburger Festspiele, Edinburgh International Festival, Hellenic Festival in Athens, Enescu Festival in Bucharest and Settimane Musicali di Ascona.
Constantinos Carydis was born in Athens. He studied piano and music theory at the Athens Conservatory and completed his studies in conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. In 2011 he was awarded the Carlos Kleiber Prize by the Bayerische Staatsoper.
