Overview

Summer Proms in the Brunnenhof

At the ABBA Summer Night in the Brunnenhof of the Residenz, the band "ABBA 99" will review the exciting life and success story of the Swedish band of the century. The unmistakably shrill 1970s look is more than just the backdrop for the amazingly real-sounding ABBA hits “Dancing Queen”, “Mamma Mia”, “Voulez-Vous”, “The Winner Takes It All” and whatever they are called.

Thank You For The Music - an unforgettable evening with ABBA

The song “Waterloo” turned four young Swedes into superstars overnight: Agnetha, Björn, Benny, and Anni-Frid, in short: ABBA. Their appearance (and victory) at the 1974 Grand Prix in Brighton hit like a bomb and laid the foundation for the unparalleled career of perhaps the most successful pop group of all time. For nine years the Swedes had one hit after another. Then they parted. But not even that could harm ABBA's popularity. The band, their clothes, their show and especially their music are unforgettable. ABBA lives on in the hearts of millions of fans.

Venue Info

Munich Residenz - Munich
Location   Residenzstraße 1

The Munich Residenz in central Munich is the former royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria. The Residenz is the largest city palace in Germany and is today open to visitors for its architecture, room decorations, and displays from the former royal collections.

The complex of buildings contains ten courtyards and displays 130 rooms. The three main parts are the Königsbau (near the Max-Joseph-Platz), the Alte Residenz (Old Residenz; towards the Residenzstraße) and the Festsaalbau (towards the Hofgarten). A wing of the Festsaalbau contains the Cuvilliés Theatre since the reconstruction of the Residenz after World War II. It also houses the Herkulessaal (Hercules Hall), the primary concert venue for the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. The Byzantine Court Church of All Saints (Allerheiligen-Hofkirche) at the east side is facing the Marstall, the building for the former Court Riding School and the royal stables.

Numerous cultural events take place throughout the year in the rooms and courtyards of the Munich Residence. The varied offer ranges from concerts and exhibitions to open-air events and residence weeks.
