Programme
Overview

Traditional a cappella concert during Advent - as well as Russian dances

The Original Don Kosaken Choir Serge Jaroff was probably the most famous choir worldwide and that for almost six decades from 1921 to 1979. After a twelve-year break, the choir is now again under the direction of Wanja Hlibka, the former youngest soloist of Serge Jaroff with undiminished Can be heard in major concert halls and cathedrals in Europe and, since 2007, in the Far East as well. Further major tours through America and Australia are in preparation. It is remarkable that the choir is received with the same euphoria and enthusiasm in all countries and foreign cultures, which again confirms that music can connect people and peoples, even if the language is not understood by everyone. The type of interpretation of the chants, as well as the vocal possibilities of the singers, who without exception also appear as soloists are also a guarantee that the typical tonal characteristics of this choir will be preserved. Serge Jaroff's sixty years of artistic work is thus continued in an authentic and inimitable way. Since 2001 Wanja Hlibka has had the legally protected name DON KOSAKEN CHOR SERGE JAROFF® Direction: WANJA HLIBKA

Venue Info

Munich Residenz - Munich
Location   Residenzstraße 1

The Munich Residenz in central Munich is the former royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria. The Residenz is the largest city palace in Germany and is today open to visitors for its architecture, room decorations, and displays from the former royal collections.

The complex of buildings contains ten courtyards and displays 130 rooms. The three main parts are the Königsbau (near the Max-Joseph-Platz), the Alte Residenz (Old Residenz; towards the Residenzstraße) and the Festsaalbau (towards the Hofgarten). A wing of the Festsaalbau contains the Cuvilliés Theatre since the reconstruction of the Residenz after World War II. It also houses the Herkulessaal (Hercules Hall), the primary concert venue for the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. The Byzantine Court Church of All Saints (Allerheiligen-Hofkirche) at the east side is facing the Marstall, the building for the former Court Riding School and the royal stables.

Numerous cultural events take place throughout the year in the rooms and courtyards of the Munich Residence. The varied offer ranges from concerts and exhibitions to open-air events and residence weeks.
