Festival Maggio Musicale Fiorentino 2023

The program of the 85th Maggio Musicale Fiorentino was presented at the Teatro del Maggio, which will start on April 22 and run until July 8, 2023. The program consists of three operas and eight concerts (plus an autumn coda that will complete the Mozart/Da Ponte Maestro Meta cycle).

Overview

The Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and one of the most important groups of the last half century and beyond, The Who , together for an extraordinary appointment during the programming of Firenze Rocks 2023.

The legendary British band, which next year will celebrate the 60-year career, includes Florence in its four European stages and does so by 'bringing' the Orchestra del Maggio Professors on stage, in their only Italian date; demonstration of the very high musical quality of the Maggio orchestral ensemble, which once again proves to be among the most appreciated and esteemed orchestras at an international level.

The tour, which brings The Who back to perform on more dates in the old continent after seven years of waiting, follows the one recently held in North America where the British rock band performed, with enormous success from critics and audiences, in over 25 dates between the United States and Canada, also in that case accompanied by some of the best American and Canadian orchestral formations.

The Visarno Arena is located inside the Visarno Hippodrome, located in Florence in the Parco delle Cascine. Surrounded by greenery and with a large capacity, the area is a perfect summer theater for large concerts, festivals, events and reviews.

Active since 2015, it has hosted Italian and international artists including David Gilmour, Massive Attack, Einsturzende Neubauten, Sting, Duran Duran, Max Pezzali, Litfiba.

Visarno Arena was chosen by UNHCR for the 2015 and 2016 editions of World Refugees Day, a music and entertainment event to raise public awareness of the conditions of millions of people forced to flee due to war, discrimination and human rights violations.

The first Italian edition of the Wish Outdoor Festival, two editions of the XL Day branded Tenax and the Beer Craft Arena review also took place at the Visarno Arena.

In 2017 it hosted the first edition of Firenze Rocks (with Aerosmith, Eddie Vedder, System Of a Down) and of Firenze Summer Festival (Jamiroquai, Arcade Fire).
