Jake Arditti joins his father Irvine Arditti’s pioneering Arditti Quartet for the world premiere of Andrzej Kwieciński’s thrilling Opulenza!. The programme also features the UK premiere of a bold new work by Isabel Mundry and a special fiftieth-anniversary commission by Cathy Milliken.The Arditti Quartet, led by Irvine Arditti and featuring his son Jake Arditti, presents an evening devoted to bold contemporary music. Polish composer Andrzej Kwieciński, whose studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague shaped his dramatic compositional voice, unveils the world premiere of Opulenza!, a work of intense energy and intricate interplay. Next, the UK premiere of Berlin-based Isabel Mundry’s latest piece showcases her striking originality through angular rhythms and inventive textures. The programme concludes with In Speak, a specially commissioned work by Cathy Milliken marking the quartet’s fiftieth anniversary, weaving shimmering sonorities and nuanced dialogue between voices. Audiences will journey from visceral drama to reflective lyricism, immersed in a rich spectrum of 21st-century musical innovation.

Since 2005, the Hall has grown attendance across its entire programme by over 60 per cent. All in all, it now presents around 500 concerts every year, selling a total of 200,000 tickets, and stages as many Learning events. Wigmore Hall plays host to a biennial International Song Competition, and a triennial International String Quartet Competition, drawing exceptionally talented young musicians from around the world keen to embark on significant recital careers.
