Experience an evening of insightful interpretations, expressive nuance and technical brilliance.Expressive nuance, technical precision and intellectual depth converge as Ariel Lanyi returns to Wigmore Hall for an evening of pure pianistic artistry. Fresh from receiving the prestigious Prix Serdang in 2023, the London-based pianist opens the programme with the contrasting character of Haydn’s Sonata in G, then delves into the fluid, rhythmically inventive textures of George Benjamin’s Fantasy on Iambic Rhythm. In the second half, Lanyi embarks on the vast landscape of Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, navigating its demanding passages and imaginative turns with fearless creativity and meticulous attention to detail. Since 2005, the Hall has grown attendance across its entire programme by over 60 per cent. All in all, it now presents around 500 concerts every year, selling a total of 200,000 tickets, and stages as many Learning events. Wigmore Hall plays host to a biennial International Song Competition, and a triennial International String Quartet Competition, drawing exceptionally talented young musicians from around the world keen to embark on significant recital careers.
