Programme
Overview
Join tenor Cyrille Dubois and pianist Tristan Raës at Wigmore Hall for a captivating journey through Gabriel Fauré’s most treasured mélodies, interwoven with rare chansons by Louis Beydts and Gabriel Dupont. A poignant tribute to Lili Boulanger’s pioneering legacy completes this intimate evening of French song.Immerse yourself in an evening of lyrical refinement as tenor Cyrille Dubois and pianist Tristan Raës return to Wigmore Hall for the latest instalment of their celebrated series exploring the songs of Gabriel Fauré and their historical context. This programme intertwines Fauré’s timeless mélodies with rare chansons by his pupil Louis Beydts and the evocative compositions of Gabriel Dupont—composers whom Dubois and Raës have ardently championed on stage and in recordings. It culminates in a heartfelt tribute to Lili Boulanger, Fauré’s devoted protégé and the first woman to claim the Prix de Rome, whose short-lived brilliance was nurtured by his guidance. Under the hall’s intimate acoustics and suffused in a warm amber glow, each phrase emerges with crystalline clarity and emotional nuance, transporting listeners to the salons and conservatoires of early twentieth-century Paris.
