Programme
Overview
Join the Doric String Quartet for a lunchtime recital that bridges Mozart's Bach-inspired eloquence with the vibrant energy of Eleanor Alberga's Second String Quartet. Revel in their masterful blend of historical depth and contemporary flair, brought to life with the ensemble's signature warmth and wit.Since their founding in 1998, the London-based Doric String Quartet has become celebrated for its artful fusion of musical traditions. At this lunchtime recital, they begin with a Mozart string quartet inspired by Bach's contrapuntal mastery, where intricate lines and graceful lyricism intertwine. The programme then transitions into Eleanor Alberga's Second String Quartet, a single-movement work alive with rhythmic drive and vibrant joy. Throughout both pieces, the ensemble's supple phrasing and dynamic interplay reveal a rich spectrum of moods—from moments of fragile pathos and brisk volatility to wry humour. With intuitive chemistry and vibrant tonal nuance, the quartet promises an uplifting chamber music journey at the heart of the day.
