Discover Aribert Reimann’s transformative takes on Schumann and Brahms and surrender to the seductive intimacy of Chausson’s songs.Fresh from the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program, American soprano Erika Baikoff leads an evocative concert alongside award-winning Quatuor Van Kuijk and celebrated pianist Julius Drake. In Aribert Reimann’s vivid arrangements, Baikoff’s luminous soprano intertwines with the quartet’s nuanced strings and Drake’s resonant piano lines to reveal the emotional depths of Schumann and Brahms. The programme continues with Ernest Chausson’s song cycles, where Baikoff and Drake evoke intimate ardour and hushed reflection, guiding listeners through moments of soaring lyricism and serene introspection. Since 2005, the Hall has grown attendance across its entire programme by over 60 per cent. All in all, it now presents around 500 concerts every year, selling a total of 200,000 tickets, and stages as many Learning events. Wigmore Hall plays host to a biennial International Song Competition, and a triennial International String Quartet Competition, drawing exceptionally talented young musicians from around the world keen to embark on significant recital careers.
