Programme
Overview
Experience an evening of nature-inspired elegance as Grammy-winning soprano Fleur Barron and Swiss tenor Mauro Peter join pianist Joseph Middleton for a spellbinding recital. From Britten’s playful boogie-woogie to George Crumb’s haunting Processional, this programme offers poetic reflections on our bond with the natural world.Set against the Enlightenment’s awakening to nature, this recital invites listeners on a journey through musical landscapes that capture the earth’s beauty and mystery. Pianist Joseph Middleton brings clarity and warmth to a curated programme of art songs, accompanied by the silvery soprano of Fleur Barron and the luminous tenor of Mauro Peter. The first half weaves delicate song cycles that evoke morning mist and woodland whispers, before Britten’s toe-tapping boogie-woogie bursts forth with playful vitality. After the interval, George Crumb’s Processional for solo piano unfolds in haunting reverberations, its resonant clusters and ethereal textures suggesting ritual and remembrance. Through moments of introspective lyricism and unexpected sparkle, the recital celebrates humanity’s timeless dialogue with the natural world in a blend of elegance, surprise and profound beauty.
