Programme
Overview
Pianist Ignas Maknickas returns with a captivating solo recital spanning the visionary soundworld of Čiurlionis, the intimate poetry of Chopin’s Nocturnes and the dramatic sweep of Beethoven’s penultimate sonata. Experience an evening of luminous lyricism and masterful expression.Having honed his artistry as the highest-scoring graduate and Aud Jebsen Fellow at London’s Royal Academy of Music, Ignas Maknickas presents a solo recital of rare depth and imagination. He opens with works by Mikolajus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, whose evocative preludes and nocturnes conjure misty Lithuanian landscapes and early modernist color. Maknickas then explores two of Chopin’s poetic Nocturnes, unveiling their intimate lyricism and subtle harmonic hues before culminating in Beethoven’s penultimate sonata—a work of profound introspection balanced by moments of transcendent drama. From hushed reverie to soaring climax, this program invites you on a journey through contrasting moods, united by Maknickas’s glowing tone and expressive insight.
