Programme
Overview
Thomas Dunford’s ensemble With Jupiter brings fresh fire to Bach with a lute arrangement of the First Cello Suite and two luminous harpsichord concertos. Experience period-instrument virtuosity and pulse-quickening brio in a programme of bold, authentic Baroque flair. In 2018, lutenist Thomas Dunford assembled With Jupiter—a collective of remarkable young artists—to champion music made without fear. Their latest programme pairs Dunford’s luminous lute transcription of Bach’s First Cello Suite, hailed by critics as 'beautiful and refreshing,' with two resplendent harpsichord concertos. Listeners will be captivated by the warm resonance of period instruments, where every pluck and ornament exudes fresh vitality. The ensemble’s agile strings and winds weave around the soloists, creating dialogues that pulse with intimacy and grandeur. This Baroque evening unfolds as a celebration of bold textures, finely wrought detail and pulse-quickening brio.
