Programme
Overview
Experience the luminous dialogue of Haydn and Nielsen as the award-winning Kleio Quartet brings vibrant precision to every phrase. This Wigmore Hall recital promises an evening of radiant melodies and impassioned interplay from one of today’s most compelling young ensembles.Fresh from triumph at the 2023 Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition and celebrated as a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, the Kleio Quartet returns to Wigmore Hall to showcase its singular artistry. The programme opens with Haydn’s Op. 74 No. 1, its sonorous lines and architectural balance rendered with crystalline clarity. It then turns to Nielsen’s First String Quartet, where youthful intensity and heart-on-sleeve lyricism unite in propulsive, emotionally charged dialogue. In the hall’s intimate acoustic, every phrase resonates with depth and nuance, inviting audiences into a world where classical refinement and Nordic fervour converge in an unforgettable chamber-music experience.
