Programme
Overview
Discover the electric conversation between cello and piano as acclaimed duo Leonard Elschenbroich and Alexei Grynyuk bring Beethoven’s Op.69 and a soul-stirring Rachmaninoff sonata to life. Join them for a morning recital that journeys from poised lyricism to heartfelt drama.Praised by Gramophone for their ‘staggering invention,’ cellist Leonard Elschenbroich and pianist Alexei Grynyuk present a program of profound emotional breadth. They open with the Cello Sonata in A major, Op.69, where elegant melodies and sudden dynamic shifts reveal Beethoven’s masterful blend of poetic warmth and bold drama. The second half explores one of Rachmaninoff’s finest cello sonatas, its elegiac themes giving way to moments of raw intensity and tragic beauty. In this intimate morning recital, every rich cello line and resonant piano chord unfolds like a vivid narrative, inviting listeners into a world of deep expression and musical storytelling.
