Programme
Overview
Join the Leonore Piano Trio for a thrilling celebration of piano trios across three centuries. Huw Watkins’s new single-movement work receives its radiant premiere, paired with Brahms’s impassioned Second Trio and Schumann’s stormy Third Trio. An evening of intimate beauty, fiery passion, and dramatic contrasts awaits.Step into an evening of chamber-music brilliance with the Leonore Piano Trio as they spotlight Huw Watkins’s single-movement Second Piano Trio, first unveiled at the Presteigne Festival in 2022 and now captured in a recording suffused with tender beauty and engrossing thematic transformations. Celebrating the composer’s fiftieth birthday year, this radiant new work unfolds through a seamless arc of motifs that glimmer with introspective warmth before surging into expressive intensity. The program continues with Brahms’s Second Piano Trio, whose impassioned central movement roars with Romantic ardour, balanced by passages of lyrical repose. The concert culminates in Schumann’s Third Piano Trio, a tempestuous journey of restless themes and turbulent dialogue that ultimately resolves into moments of serene transcendence. Throughout this compelling trio of trios, the ensemble’s unified artistry invites listeners to immerse themselves in a tapestry of lush harmonies, poignant lyricism, and exhilarating drama.
