Journey from the elegant richness of the French clarinet tradition to the effervescent charm of Joseph Horovitz’s Sonatina—tickets from £18 (£16 concessions).Since his sensational triumph at the 2022 Carl Nielsen International Competition—where he also received the Odense Symphony Orchestra Special Prize and the Junior Jury Prize—Oleg Shebeta-Dragan has emerged as a clarinettist of exceptional warmth and technique. Now recognized as a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, the Ukrainian musician unfolds a programme that celebrates the French clarinet tradition through works brimming with lyrical elegance, subtle nuances and vivid sonorities. His recital culminates with Joseph Horovitz’s effervescent Sonatina, composed to mark the composer’s centenary and pulsing with wit, energy and poise. Since 2005, the Hall has grown attendance across its entire programme by over 60 per cent. All in all, it now presents around 500 concerts every year, selling a total of 200,000 tickets, and stages as many Learning events. Wigmore Hall plays host to a biennial International Song Competition, and a triennial International String Quartet Competition, drawing exceptionally talented young musicians from around the world keen to embark on significant recital careers.
