Programme
Overview
Step into a world of contrasting tonal beauty as Pavel Kolesnikov returns to the stage with Desyatnikov’s haunting Preludes from Songs of Bukovina and Tchaikovsky’s timeless Seasons. Prepare to be swept away by an evening of spellbinding moods and sculpted sound.Renowned for his ‘virtuosic sculptor in sound’ approach, Pavel Kolesnikov invites you on a captivating musical voyage. He opens with a selection of Preludes from Leonid Desyatnikov’s Songs of Bukovina, a series of intimate miniatures woven from Ukrainian, Romanian, Jewish and Balkan folk threads. Each Prelude reveals its own haunting landscape— from delicate folk motifs to brooding, shadowed passages—showcasing Kolesnikov’s uncanny ability to conjure the subtlest tonal contrasts. In the second half, he turns to Tchaikovsky’s beloved Twelve Meditations on The Seasons, a portrait gallery of the year rendered in rich melodic detail. From January’s frost-kissed introspection to June’s radiant warmth and December’s festive charm, these character pieces shimmer under Kolesnikov’s deft touch. Every note is charged with emotion, as he guides you through shifting atmospheres and vivid seasonal portraits. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience a recital of extraordinary depth and nuance. Let Pavel Kolesnikov’s poetic pianism transport you through folk-inspired reveries and the timeless elegance of Tchaikovsky’s Seasons.
