Programme
Overview
Discover the soul-stirring lute masterpieces of John Dowland and Johann Sebastian Bach, reimagined on the guitar. A single recital unites Renaissance melancholy and Baroque brilliance in a tapestry of plucked-string colours.Embark on a captivating recital that pays homage to John Dowland’s Renaissance elegance and Johann Sebastian Bach’s Baroque brilliance through the rich voice of the guitar. The programme opens with Dowland’s plaintive ayres and pavans, where each delicate pluck conjures the poet’s intimate reflections, before progressing to Bach’s inventive preludes and fugues, reimagined in vibrant guitar timbres. Within the hall’s warm acoustic embrace, the soloist’s nuanced articulation and dynamic control reveal fresh tones and emotional depth, weaving a seamless dialogue between two masters separated by centuries yet united by the art of plucked-string expression.
