Programme
Overview
Experience the radiant power of Bach’s Latin Mass in an intimate chamber setting. Solomon’s Knot’s conductorless ensemble delivers each sacred movement with crystalline precision and heartfelt passion. Join us for a transcendent evening that honors one of western music’s greatest masterpieces.Solomon’s Knot, a conductorless collective of virtuosi, presents Bach’s majestic setting of the Latin Mass with chamber-music intimacy and fervent artistry. Without the guidance of a conductor, eight musicians—four vocal soloists joined by a quartet of strings—interweave voice and instrument in an organic partnership that highlights Bach’s intricate counterpoint. From the introspective plea of the Kyrie through the radiant exultation of the Gloria, the solemn depths of the Credo and Sanctus to the consoling purity of the Agnus Dei, each movement unfolds with emotional clarity and expressive nuance. The singers’ voices soar above shimmering bowed strings and subtle continuo lines, drawing listeners into a profound journey through one of western sacred music’s supreme achievements. This evening offers a rare opportunity to encounter Bach’s timeless testament to faith and artistry in its most transparent, chamber-like form.
