Subtitled ‘A Tale of the Fisherfolks,’ this eight-movement suite channels oral traditions and regional myths into a kaleidoscope of melodies: from the playful banter of dawn-lit markets to the hushed reverence of moonlit rites. The two oboes weave interlocking themes—at times bright and buoyant, at others tender and reflective—while a five-piece string ensemble underpins the narrative with resonant harmonies and rhythmic vitality. After this immersive journey, the programme continues with vibrant arrangements of Nigerian traditional and highlife songs, where dynamic grooves and uplifting refrains evoke communal celebrations.
