Programme
Overview

The Festive Male Choir of Danilov monastery is one of the world leading spiritual music ensembles. Its history is really unique, and it’s not easy to find another professional band with such an ancient tradition. The Choir is first mentioned in old chronicles. In Russia, both common people and nobility loved the Choir. The Choir consists of 30 professional singers, with each one has vocal and choir education. The ensemble is a permanent participant of international church music conferences and festivals, in Russia as well as abroad, and different youth and charity activities. The repertoire of the Choir embraces the whole spectrum of sacred music, as well as romances, war and patriotic songs, hymns, folklore & Cossack songs (as well as “drinking sons”), Russian and foreign classics. It was that unique repertoire, as well as sincerity and soulfulness, that won the Choir fame and love of the whole world.

The Musica Viva Moscow Chamber Orchestra is a unique ensemble which performs in various genres, styles and formations, from small ensembles of around ten players performing Baroque repertoire on period instruments, to large Romantic symphonies for up to 50 musicians. The artistic policy of the orchestra is to perform rare music of the 18th and 19th centuries, and the orchestra has premiered works by C.P.E. Bach, Hasse, Tricklir and Alabiev among others. Musica Viva has recorded around 30 albums on different labels featuring diverse repertoire. The orchestra has collaborated with eminent soloists and conductors such as Christopher Hogwood, Roger Norrington, Christian Tetzlaff, Thomas Zehetmair, Max Emanuel Cenčić, Eliso Virsaladze and Natalia Gutman. The Musica Viva Moscow Chamber Orchestra celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2018, and Alexander Rudin has been its artistic director since 1988.

Zaryadye Hall is a concert hall in Moscow located in the Zaryadye Natural Landscape Park. Valery Gergiev, Denis Matsuev, Anna Netrebko, Daniil Trifonov and Ildar Abdrazakov spoke at the opening ceremony.

The peculiarity of Zaryadye Hall is its strict genre correspondence. No pop performances are planned in the hall. The Zaryadye Hall received world-class performers on the stages of the Big and Small Halls, introduced the audience to the work of such musicians as mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozhena (Czech Republic), conductor Andrew Parrot and Taverner Choir, Consort and Players (Great Britain), countertenor Jakub Josef Orlinsky ( Poland), Quatuor Diotima string quartet (France). And these artists, in turn, discovered Moscow and Russia.

The hall hosts concerts of not only outstanding masters, but also young artists, a series of topical musical projects: Sound Up, New Classics. The Zaryadye Hall hosted the world premiere of the ballet "Little Red Riding Hood" by the famous dancer Sergei Polunin. The repertoire of the hall also includes educational programs for children and adults: excursions, lectures, master classes, and interactive concert programs.
