Programme
Robert Schumann: Scenes from Childhood
Overview

The Trio is performed by true masters: Denis Matsuev (piano), Sergei Krylov (violin), Alexander Ramm (cello). “Scenes from Childhood” is one of the most perfect cycles, although it is believed that these are “children's” scenes and children play it better, because they do it on a whim. It is very difficult for adults to play it – nevertheless, for me this cycle is a kind of revelation,” Denis Matsuev said in an interview.

Schumann's “Scenes from Childhood”cycle has been performed by the pianist more than once in concert halls in Moscow, St. Petersburg and New York.

“Performed very poetically, in one breath, they immersed the audience in the atmosphere of the 19th century romantic era, infinitely far from today. Already in these small pieces, simple in form, but deep in content, Matsuev showed the most important quality of a performer – the ability to win and lead the audience along the labyrinth of the subtlest bends of the composer's emotional mood”.

Trio for  Piano, Violin and Cello “In Memory Of The Great Artist” is a masterpiece of chamber instrumental music, for which Tchaikovsky nevertheless did not have much love. A truly symphonic scale, the Trio is dedicated to the memory of Nikolai Rubinstein, who died in 1881.

Zaryadye Hall - Moscow
Location   Varvarka Street, 6 с.4

Zaryadye Hall is a concert hall in Moscow located in the Zaryadye Natural Landscape Park. Valery Gergiev, Denis Matsuev, Anna Netrebko, Daniil Trifonov and Ildar Abdrazakov spoke at the opening ceremony.

The peculiarity of Zaryadye Hall is its strict genre correspondence. No pop performances are planned in the hall. The Zaryadye Hall received world-class performers on the stages of the Big and Small Halls, introduced the audience to the work of such musicians as mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozhena (Czech Republic), conductor Andrew Parrot and Taverner Choir, Consort and Players (Great Britain), countertenor Jakub Josef Orlinsky ( Poland), Quatuor Diotima string quartet (France). And these artists, in turn, discovered Moscow and Russia.

The hall hosts concerts of not only outstanding masters, but also young artists, a series of topical musical projects: Sound Up, New Classics. The Zaryadye Hall hosted the world premiere of the ballet "Little Red Riding Hood" by the famous dancer Sergei Polunin. The repertoire of the hall also includes educational programs for children and adults: excursions, lectures, master classes, and interactive concert programs.
