About
Carlo Vistoli was born in 1987 in Lugo (Ravenna, Italy). In childhood and adolescence, he studied piano and guitar, and only at 20 years old, when he was a student at the Faculty of Musicology at the University of Bologna, he began to work privately with the famous tenor William Matteuzzi. Inspired by the baroque vocals, Carlo entered the Girolamo Frescobaldi Conservatory in Ferrara, where his teacher was Sonia Prina (contralto). He participated in master classes of such famous Baroque music performers as Monica Bacelli, Romina Basso, Mariana Miyanovich and Sara Mingardo.
Carlo Vistoli won the first prize at the international vocal competitions “Cleto Tomba” in Castel San Pietro Terme (Bologna, 2012) and “Renata Tebaldi” (San Marino, 2013, nomination “baroque performance”), second prize in the competition the baroque vocal “Francesco Provenzale” (Naples, 2013); winner of the public prize and the Farinelli Prize at the competition in Bologna (2012), the finalist of the international vocal competitions Pietro Antonio Honor (Innsbruck, 2012) and sacred music (Rome, 2013).
Carlo Vistoli sings in numerous collectives of baroque music: the Church Choir "San Giacomo Maggiore in Bologna" (led by Roberto Carcio); Les Nations ensembles (Maria Louise Baldassari); Sanssouci (Giuseppe Nalin); The Golden Section (Luca Giardini); Les mbassadeurs (Alexis Kossenko); Les Caractères (Elian Laval; Hvavier Julien-Laferrier); “The New Baroque Ensemble of the Trinity” (Predrag Gost); Opera Fuoco (David Stern); Talenti Vulcanici Center for Early Music "Pietà de 'Turchini" in Naples (Stefano Demicheli).
In October 2012, the singer's opera debut took place — in the part of the Sorceress in the G. Purcell opera “Didon and Aeneus” at the theater stage in Cesena. In November of the same year he sang the part of Lysidus. The Olympiad's thoughts on the Commune Theater of Bologna (conducted by Oliverfon Dohnania), and in June 2014 played the role of Oton in Coronation Poppa by C. Monteverdi on the stage of New Belgrade Opera (conducted by Predrag Gosta).
Among the engagements of the singer in the current season is the Perito “Elena” part F. Cavalli in Nantes and Rennes (resumption of the performance shown at the 2013 Aix-en-Provence Festival, directed by Jean-Yves Rouff, conductor Leonardo Garcia-Alarcon). In November 2014, he sang the title role in Handel’s Tamerlane in Poznan (concert performance, conductor Alexis Kossenko); in December in Shanghai - the part of Ptolemy in Handel's opera "Julius Caesar in Egypt" (also a concert version, conductor David Stern).
Selected by one of the soloists of the project of William Cristi and Paul Agnew, LeJardindesVoix, in February 2015, Carlo Vistioli began performing with the LesArtsFlorissants ensemble: in Cana, and then during the world tour of the famous band.
