Italian tenor Fabio Sartori makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2017/18 Season as Canio (Pagliacci).
Sartori was born in Treviso and studied at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice with Leone Magiera. He made his professional debut singing Rodolfo (La bohème) for La Fenice, Venice. Subsequent engagements have included Macduff (Macbeth), Jacopo Foscari (I due Foscari), Don Carlo, Foresto (Attila), Radames (Aida), Rodolfo and Verdi’s Requiem for La Scala, Milan, Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) for Teatro Comunale, Bologna, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Zürich Opera House, Vienna State Opera and Berlin State Opera, Don Carlo for Teatro Comunale, Teatro Regio, Parma, and Berlin State Opera, Carlo (Linda di Chamounix) for Vienna State Opera, Tebaldo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) for Lyric Opera of Chicago, Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) in Florence, Pollione (Norma) and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) for Deutsche Oper Berlin, Carlo (I masnadieri) for Zürich Opera House and Cavaradossi (Tosca) for Berlin State Opera.
Sartori has worked with such conductors as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Daniele Gatti, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti and Gianandrea Noseda.
