With around 300 to 400 million records sold worldwide, Michael Jackson is considered the most successful singer of all time. Other sources even state up to 750 million discs sold. A further 33 million of his albums were posthumously sold within a year of his death.

As a child, Michael Jackson and his brothers founded the popular band The Jackson Five in the 1970s. He achieved his meteoric rise to the top of the world pop music scene as a solo artist in 1982 with the release of “Thriller”, the best-selling album worldwide to date. Estimates range from 65 million to 110 million copies sold. Seven released singles became top ten hits. The 16-minute video for "Thriller" was a world first at the time, and Michael conquered MTV with it and established the mini-blockbuster in the pop arena. He also had huge success with the albums "Off the Wall" (1979), "Bad" (1987), "Dangerous" (1991), "HIStory" (1995) and "Invincible" (2001). His mega hits and his breathtaking dance style with the incomparable "Moonwalk" made him one of the most influential pop stars.
