Overview

Chassol’s talent has not gone unnoticed by such artists as Frank Ocean and Solange, who he worked with on his latest work When I Get Home (2019), coproducing and writing some of the songs.

His music has taken him to the Biennale de Venezia and the Cannes Festival, and to play alongside the prestigious and innovative Philarmonie de Paris and Elb Philarmonie in Hamburg, as well as in leading centres of creation and contemporary culture all over the world. A key figure in jazz today and the inventor of the ultrascore genre, French pianist, singer, composer, arranger and conductor, Christophe Chassol is appearing at the festival for the first time to present his new project Ludi; a musical film inspired by the novel Das Glasperlenspiel (The Glass Bead Game) by German author Hermann Hesse, which looks at the concepts of play, time and music from both the human and the animal point of view. In his show, Chassol brings together sequences of visual frameworks to harmonise the sounds of each one of them and so create their own music. Music that has become the soundtrack of real life.
