Roman Burdenko was born in Barnaul, Russia. He has won numerous prestigious vocal competitions, including first prize at the Moscow International Opera Singers Competition, second prize at the Long-Thibaut-Crespin Competition in Paris in 2011, third prize at the Operalia Placido Domingo Competition in Beijing in 2012, and second prize at the 32nd Hans Gabor International Belvedere Competition. in Amsterdam in 2013.
He has performed on leading opera stages worldwide, including La Scala, the Deutsches Opera, the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatres, the Verona Arena, the Paris and Berlin State Operas.
In recent seasons, he has tackled roles such as Baron Scarpia, Iago, Tonio, Alfio, Don Carlo, Rodrigo, Alberich, Giorgio Germont, Jack Rance, Amonasro, Tomsky, Enrico Ashton, Barnaba, and the title roles in Rigoletto, Nabucco, and Macbeth.
For the 2024-2025 season, his engagements include Baron Scarpia at the Berlin State Opera, Macbeth at the Deutsches Opera, Tonio at the Teatro Comunale, and Michele in Tabarro at the Teatro Verdi.
At the Paris Opera, he will perform Baron Scarpia in 2022 and lead in Rigoletto in 2024.
In 2017, he made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre, singing the title role in "Prince Igor" by A. Borodino.
