About

English mezzo-soprano Rosie Aldridge made her Royal Opera debut in the 2016/17 Season as Praskovya Osipovna/Vendor (The Nose), and has returned as Aksinya (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk). In the 2018/19 Season she sings Angrboda (The Monstrous Child).

Aldridge studied at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School, and was a Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival. She was a member of the ensemble of Vienna State Opera 2016–18, where her roles included Annina (Der Rosenkavalier), Aksinya, Gertrude (Roméo et Juliette), Teresa (La sonnambula), Madame Larina (Eugene Onegin), Marthe Schwertlein (Faust), Giovanna (Rigoletto), Rossweisse (Die Walküre) and Annina (La traviata) in a gala performance celebrating Plácido Domingo’s 50 years performing with Vienna State Opera.

She made her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona in Autumn 2018 as the Kabanicha (Katya Kabanova). Elsewhere her appearances include Lady in Waiting (Macbeth) for Glyndebourne Festival; Praskovya Osipovna/Vendor (The Nose) for Komische Oper, Berlin; Flowermaiden (Parsifal) for Teatro Real, Madrid, Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte) and Aksinya (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) for English National Opera and Ruth (The Pirates of Penzance) for Scottish Opera.
